Support Tools

THIS PAGE IS OBSOLETE go to the new Support Tools page.

These support tools are provided free.
JMRI and DecoderPro (part of JMRI) are open source and provided by a  community of developers.
Other tools are by Team Digital.

Specific Product Tools:

SMD82
Download  TD_SMD82.xml file version 1.2 (10/23/06) for programming in DecoderPro

SRC8
Download  TD_SRC8.xml file for programming in DecoderPro
This works with SRC8s marked with 44 or later.
Download Excel spreadsheet for SRC8 CV record and calculator SRC8_cv_cal.xls

SIC24
Download  TD_SIC24.xml file version 1.1 (2/23/06) for programming in DecoderPro
This works with SIC24s marked with 13 or later.
Download Excel spreadsheet with various SIC24 logic cell assignments  sic24_cell_asign.xls
This sheet gives a number of examples in using logic cells. The examples include searchlight, approach lighting and semaphore type signaling. Once the cells have been assigned, you can use the SIC24 calculator in the LN Program Tool to determine the CV number and value to program. Also, DecoderPro works very well.

SMD8
Download  TD_SMD8.xml file for programming in DecoderPro
Download Excel spreadsheet for SMD8 CV record and calculator SMD8_calculator.xls
This sheet was generously provided by Steve Baggott from Australia. It is oriented toward NCE users.

Note: Programming the SRC8 or SIC24 via LocoNet with DecoderPro. The SRC8 and SIC24 respond to DecoderPro like a command station does. For this reason once in a while DecoderPro gets confused since there are two devices responding. Therefore, you may find best performance when programming by enabling the LocoNet terminator in LocoBuffer-II and disconnecting the command station from LocoNet.

Fun Tools:
Loco Back-N-Forth is a JMRI script that runs a loco back and forth between blocks 1 and 3 of a
three block (1,2,3) section. User enters loco number and max speed. It includes a scrolling field to show the state of activity.
Download   locoBack-N-Forth.py   version 1.1 - 11/28/06

LN Send Tool:
The LN Send Tool is a JMRI script that allows you to  easily send several of the most common loconet type messages. These include switch, feedback and sensor type messages. DCC signal packets can also be sent via loconet. Messages are configured using radio buttons and combo boxes. It does not display (monitor) loconet message traffic. However, you can use the JMRI Loconet Monitor to view messaages.
Download   LnSendTool.py - 11/4/06

LN Message Tool:
LN Message Tool picture The purpose of the LN Message Tool is to help setup and verify desired operation of Team Digital products. It can display common LocoNet messages and send switch, feedback and sensor type messages.

The LN Message Tool is available for both PC and Macintosh. Limited testing has been done with Windows 98 and ME on a PC and with OS 7.5 and OX 9 using a KeySpan dual serial to USB adapter on a Mac. Memory required is 2.3 MB.

Connection from the computer to LocoNet can be made with RR-CirKits LocoBuffer-II or Digitrax's MS100 for a PC. LocoBuffer-USB is not supported. In some cases a simple circuit like the one shown below will work for a PC or Mac. However, caution must be used as there is no ground isolation.

This software is provided "AS IS". It is not certified by Digitrax and does not necessarily meet their standards.

1/3/04      version 1.4b     improved error handling of messages
3/19/04    version 1.5b     includes visual simulator of output states of SIC24 and SE8C
1/17/05    version 1.6b     fixed a bug with the SIC24 output state visual simulator colors

Mac version 1.4b:    LN_Msg_Tool68k.sit     800K

Cv Calculator picture LN Program Tool:
The purpose of the LN Message Tool is to help configure operation of Team Digital products. It uses LocoNet messages to read and write (program) configuration variables (CVs). It displays a list of the CV values as they are being read or written. Read back only works for products that have that capability.

The LN Program Tool has a built in CV Calculator for each product (SRC8 shown at right). Each product calculator contains sections specific to that product. Simply type in the desired number and the CV value is calculated. For example, just type in the desire address. The address adder and address CV values are both calculated.

Connection to LocoNet is the same as the LN Message Tool. However, the CV Calculator does not require LocoNet connection to operate.

This software is provided "AS IS". It is not certified by Digitrax and does not necessarily meet their standards.
1/3/04   version 1.6b    read/write CV text files
4/8/04   version 1.71b   corrected problem in SIC24 CV calculator
7/5/04   version 1.72b   improved SMD8 CV calculator (PC only)
3/10/06 version 1.73b  added LocoBuffer-USB support (PC only)
As of 8/30/06  the CV calculator will no longer be updated for new products. Use DecoderPro to program the current version of our products.

PH Tool:
The purpose of the PH Tool is the help program Team Digital products using a NCE Powerhouse Pro system. Limited testing has been done with Windows ME on a PC.

This software is provided "AS IS". It is not certified by NCE and does not necessarily meet their standards.
